How it works

A waitlist changelog post, from draft to published.

  1. Write the post

    Give it a title and write with bold, italics and links. Under More options, add a one-line summary or a cover image, or pin it to the top. It stays a draft until you publish.

  2. Publish it

    It goes live on your updates page with a page of its own you can link to, and every Updates block or snippet you have added shows it too. There is nothing to copy.

  3. Email the big ones

    Tick "Also email it" before you publish, or press "Email it" on the post later, and LaunchList drafts a broadcast from it for you to check and send. Your list of posts shows which ones went out by email.

Each place takes one step to add, and every post you publish shows up there on its own after that.

  • On their status page

    Put the Updates block on your status page, and every signup sees a "What's new" card there, with each post's date and a line from it. The card stays hidden until your first post is live.

  • On your Launch page

    Add the Updates block, and a page you built months ago still has something new to say. Show your latest posts as a list or as cards.

  • On your own site

    One snippet puts your latest posts on the site you already have, and you set the heading and how many show. It appears under Embed & API after your first post, and the Framer, Webflow and WordPress apps can place it too.

  • Wherever the link is shared

    Paste a post's link into X, LinkedIn or a group chat, and the cover image and summary you gave it become the preview.

A good fit when

  • Your launch is months away, and you want the people who joined early to remember why they did.
  • You ship something every week or two and want a public record of it, without starting a blog.
  • You have news to share, like a funding round, a date or a milestone, and want one link for it.
  • You want your waitlist to see progress without an email landing every time you post.

Not the right fit when

  • You need a full release log for a live product, with versions, categories and search. Updates are short posts in one list.
  • You want readers to comment on a post or react to it. Posts have no comments or reactions.
  • You want the updates page on your own domain. It stays at your launchlist.page address, even after you connect a domain.
  • You want to schedule a post for later. A post goes live when you press Publish.

What is a build in public changelog?
A running list of short posts about what you shipped and what changed, shared while the product is still being made. For a waitlist, it gives people a reason to stay interested and to tell others before launch day.
Where is my updates feed?
At your launchlist.page address followed by /updates, like piedpiper.launchlist.page/updates, with every published post in full. It stays at that address after you connect your own domain. Press Share on your Updates screen to copy the address or open the page.
Does publishing an update email my waitlist?
No. A published post appears on your updates page and wherever you placed your updates, and no email is sent. Emailing a post is a separate step you take yourself, and even then LaunchList only prepares the broadcast; it goes out when you send it.
What should a build in public update say?
One change and why it matters to the person waiting: what you shipped, what it will let them do, and what comes next. A screenshot as the cover image gives the post something to show when it is shared.
How often should I post an update?
Whenever something someone on your list would care about changes: a feature that works, a date that moved, a milestone you reached. A short post every week or two keeps people more interested than a long one every few months.
Are updates included on the Free plan?
Yes. Writing, pinning and publishing posts, the updates page, RSS, a page for every post, both Updates blocks and the snippet for your site all come with the Free plan. Search indexing and emailing a post start on the Collect plan. The updates page and each post carry a small "Powered by LaunchList" credit, which the Launch and Grow plans remove.
