# Connect your waitlist to Zapier

LaunchList connects to Zapier through a webhook. Start a Zap with Webhooks by Zapier, paste its URL into LaunchList, and every signup, referral or invite you choose reaches the Zap within seconds, ready for Google Sheets, HubSpot, Mailchimp, Slack or any other app Zapier connects.

How it connects: Through a webhook (Webhooks by Zapier). Canonical page: https://getlaunchlist.com/plugins/zapier. Updated 2026-10-15.

## Set it up

1. **Start a Zap with a webhook trigger.** In Zapier, create a Zap and choose **Webhooks by Zapier** as the trigger, with the **Catch Hook** event. Copy the webhook URL Zapier gives you.
2. **Add the URL to LaunchList.** In LaunchList, open **Embed & API**, then **Developers**, then **Webhooks**. Press **New endpoint**, paste the URL and choose the events to send, such as `signup.created`.
3. **Send a test event.** Press **Send test** on the endpoint, then test the trigger in Zapier. Zapier reads the test signup and lists the fields it found.
4. **Add your action and publish.** Add the app each signup should go to, map fields such as the email and name, and publish the Zap. The next real signup runs it.

## What LaunchList can send to a Zap

An endpoint listens to the events you pick, or to all of them. These are the ones Zaps use most.

| When this happens | Send this event |
| ---------------------------------------- | -------------------- |
| Someone joins your waitlist | `signup.created` |
| A signup confirms their email | `contact.verified` |
| A referral is credited to someone | `referral.made` |
| Someone reaches a reward | `reward.granted` |
| You issue an invite, or someone uses one | `invite.issued`, `invite.redeemed` |
| A form or survey gets an answer | `form.submitted`, `survey.completed` |
| An email bounces or someone unsubscribes | `email.bounced`, `email.unsubscribed` |

There are 27 event types in all, from signups and stage changes to broadcasts and published
updates. The [webhook guide](https://app.getlaunchlist.com/help/docs/plugins/webhook) lists every one.

## The fields your Zap can use

Each event arrives as JSON, and the signup it is about sits under `data.object`. Zapier shows nested
fields with their path in the name, so the email appears as **Data Object Email**.

| Field in Zapier | What it holds |
| -------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------- |
| Type | The event, such as `signup.created` |
| Data Object Email | The signup's email address |
| Data Object Name | Their name, when your form asks for it |
| Data Object Referral Code | The code in their referral link |
| Data Object Referral Count | How many people they have referred so far |
| Data Object Created At | When they joined |
| Data Object Referred By | The ID of the contact who referred them, if any |
| Data Object Attributes | Every other answer on your form, one field each |

The test event is a made-up signup, `test@example.com`, marked as a test so it never reads as a real
person. It carries the email, name and a few other fields. To map the rest, such as the referral code,
sign up to your own waitlist once and pull that signup into Zapier as the sample.

## Worked example: every signup in a Google Sheet

1. Make a sheet with the columns **Email**, **Name**, **Referral code** and **Joined**.
2. Build the Zap as above, with `signup.created` as the only event.
3. Add a **Google Sheets** action, **Create Spreadsheet Row**, and pick your sheet.
4. Map Data Object Email to Email, Data Object Name to Name, Data Object Referral Code to Referral code and Data Object Created At to Joined. Publish.

Each new signup is now a row, a few seconds after it joins. If your form asks people to confirm their
email, send `contact.verified` instead, so the sheet only holds people who confirmed.

## More Zaps founders build

- **Add each signup to your CRM.** A HubSpot or Pipedrive action that creates or updates a contact
  from `signup.created`.
- **Tell the team in Slack.** A Slack step that posts each new signup to a channel. The
[Slack page](https://getlaunchlist.com/plugins/slack) has the message and the events worth posting.
- **Thank your best referrers.** Start from `reward.granted` and send the reward from the tool
you already use, such as a discount code from your store.
- **Let people into your product.** Start from `invite.redeemed`, which carries the person and your
own `external_id`, and create their account in your app.

## Keep the Zap's URL private

Anyone who has a Catch Hook URL can post to it. Keep it out of shared documents. Every LaunchList
delivery carries a `LaunchList-Signature` header made with your endpoint secret, so if you need proof
that a request came from LaunchList, check that signature on your own server or in a code step. The
[webhook guide](https://app.getlaunchlist.com/help/docs/plugins/webhook#verifying-the-signature) shows how.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does LaunchList work with Zapier?

Yes, through a webhook. Start your Zap with the Webhooks by Zapier trigger set to Catch Hook, add its URL as an endpoint in LaunchList and choose the events. Each one reaches the Zap within seconds.

### Can Zapier add people to my waitlist too?

Yes. Use a Webhooks by Zapier POST action to call the LaunchList API's create contact endpoint with an API key in the Authorization header. The signup gets the same duplicate check and referral link as one from your form. The [API reference](https://app.getlaunchlist.com/help/docs/api/contacts-create) has the request.

### Which events can I send to a Zap?

Any of the 27 event types, or all of them. Most Zaps need one or two, such as `signup.created` for every new signup, `contact.verified` for confirmed ones, `referral.made` when a referral is credited and `invite.redeemed` when someone uses their invite.

### What happens if Zapier is down when someone signs up?

LaunchList tries the delivery again, eight times over about two days. Every attempt is in the endpoint's delivery log, and you can send any delivery again once the Zap is back.

### Do I need a paid Zapier plan?

That depends on Zapier, not on LaunchList. Check that your Zapier plan includes Webhooks by Zapier before you build the Zap.

### Does the same setup work with Make or n8n?

Yes. In Make, start the scenario with a custom webhook. In n8n, start the workflow with a Webhook node set to POST. Paste either URL into LaunchList as an endpoint and the same events arrive.
