Early access

Early access invites, with a code for every person.

LaunchList's early access invites let people off your waitlist when you are ready, each with an invite code of their own. You see who used their code and who has not yet.

How it works

How someone goes from your waitlist into your product.

  1. Choose who gets in

Let "Invite people" pick the next ones for you, select people on Signups, such as everyone in a segment, or press "Invite" on one person's record.
  2. Their code arrives

Each person is emailed a link to their private status page, where the code waits beside "Claim access". When an email cannot be sent or does not arrive, copy the code from your list and send it yourself.
  3. They use it

Pressing "Claim access" uses the code and moves them to Joined. Set your own signup page and it takes them there with the code attached, or redeem the code from your backend with one API call.
Who got in

Beta invite codes you can follow from sent to used.

  • Not used yet, used, expired or turned off

Filter the list by where each code stands. When invite emails bounce, a line above the list says how many did not arrive, so you can copy those codes and send them another way.

  • Each batch compared

People you invite together, from Signups or with "Invite people", form a batch you can name. Analytics shows how many in each of your latest 20 batches used their code.

  • Mark it used yourself

When someone gets in where LaunchList cannot see, mark their invite as used from its row. It is recorded as marked by you, apart from codes that were checked.

  • Steps you can take back

Mark a used code as not used and it works again. Turn off a code and that person goes back to the waitlist.

When to use it

When to invite people from your waitlist in rounds.

A good fit when

  • Your product cannot take everyone on day one, because of servers, support or your own time.
  • You want your most engaged signups, like your top referrers, to get in first.
  • You want to see how many from one batch actually came in before you send the next.
  • Your app has its own signup, and only people holding a code should get through it.

Not the right fit when

  • You are opening to everyone on the same day. With nobody held back, a code only adds a step.
  • You need people to pay before they get in. Invite codes do not take payments.
The details

Early access invite codes that are hard to pass around.

  • One person, one use

A personal code works once, and redeeming it takes the address it was sent to as well as the code itself.
  • An expiry you choose

Personal codes stop working after 14 days unless you pick 7, 30 or 90 days, or no end at all.
  • Shared codes with seats

One code for a launch post or a partner, capped at the seats you set, with an optional end date and a list of allowed email domains. From the Launch plan
  • The next people in line

"Invite people" chooses subscribed signups still on the waitlist, the ones with the most referrals first, then in the order they joined.
  • Automations that invite and remind

An automation can invite someone for you, for example when they bring 3 friends. The ready-made "Invite reminder" emails people who were invited but have not joined, once you switch it on.From the Launch plan
  • From your own code

Invite, redeem and revoke through the API, invite from your AI assistant over MCP, and get a webhook when a code is issued, redeemed, revoked or expires.

FAQ

Questions about early access invite codes.

What is the difference between an early access invite and a referral?
A referral is a signup bringing in a friend, which grows your waitlist. An invite is you letting someone off the waitlist and into your product.
What does someone see when you send them an invite?
An email from you with a button to a page that is theirs alone. The page says their spot is open, shows their code ready to copy, and offers "Claim access". If you set your own signup page, that button sends them there carrying the code; otherwise the page tells them they are in.
Do I need a backend to use invite codes?
No. Send people their codes, and mark each invite as used when the person gets in. If you do have a backend, one API call redeems a code during signup, and repeating the call for the same person is safe.
Can I invite more than 1,000 people?
Yes, in rounds. One invite reaches up to 1,000 people, so selecting your whole list by mistake cannot email everyone at once. Run it again for the next round.
Does inviting someone again give them a new code?
Yes. When a code has expired or been turned off, inviting the person again sends them a new code in a new email. The old code does not come back.
Are invite codes included on the Free plan?
Yes. Personal invites work on the Free plan for your first 100 invites, with no limit on the Collect, Launch and Grow plans. Shared codes, other code styles and allowed email domains come with the Launch and Grow plans. Automations, including the ones that invite or remind people, come with the Launch and Grow plans.
