# Where to launch a consumer app We checked 8 places from Oct 14 to 30, 2026: 8 were online. 2 list you for free, and 1 of the 4 whose listings we opened gave a dofollow link. For consumer apps collects the places that suit apps for everyday people rather than business software. Source: https://getlaunchlist.com/directories/consumer-apps. Checked Oct 14 to 30, 2026. Updated Oct 29, 2026. ## At a glance - Online: 8 of 8 (Answered when we checked) - New listings, dated: 0 (Showed listings we could date) - Free to submit: 2 (Free, or free with a paid option) - Dofollow link: 1 of 4 (Of those whose listings we opened) ## Best picks by goal Chosen from our checks alone: the facts named are the ones we confirmed. - **On the most visited site:** [Product Hunt](https://getlaunchlist.com/directories/launch-boards/producthunt). Among the 10,000 most visited sites (Tranco, Oct 2026). - **The most linked to by other sites:** [Product Hunt](https://getlaunchlist.com/directories/launch-boards/producthunt). How often other sites link to it: 70 out of 100 (Common Crawl, Oct 2026). - **Takes products before launch:** [BetaList](https://getlaunchlist.com/directories/launch-boards/betalist). Takes products that have not launched yet, so a waitlist link fits. ## Our picks - [r/alphaandbetausers](https://getlaunchlist.com/directories/subreddits/r-alphaandbetausers): People here sign up to test apps; put your stage and platform in the title. - [Product Hunt](https://getlaunchlist.com/directories/launch-boards/producthunt): Lists mobile apps as well as websites, and it is among the 10,000 most visited sites. - [BetaList](https://getlaunchlist.com/directories/launch-boards/betalist): Takes products before they are open to everyone, so a waitlist or beta page fits. - [AlternativeTo](https://getlaunchlist.com/directories/review-sites/alternativeto): People find apps here by looking up the one they already use, on iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows and the web. - [Nick Launches](https://getlaunchlist.com/directories/launch-boards/nicklaunches): Free to list, and a listing stays up after its week on the ranked board. - [Uneed](https://getlaunchlist.com/directories/launch-boards/uneed): Lists personal life products as well as tools, and every listing we opened was dofollow. ## Before you launch an app for everyday people Most launch boards were built for software sold to companies. These 8 also take apps for everyday people, and their readers are early adopters who will install something new if they can see it working. Show the app in use before you explain it. Start with a place that finds you testers while the app is in beta, then launch on a big board once it is in the stores. The stores themselves are on [App stores](/directories/app-stores), and places that take an app before release are on [Before you launch](/directories/before-you-launch). ### How to do it well - Show the app working in the first seconds of your video or screenshots. - Have your App Store and Google Play links ready; most boards want a link people can open today. - Before release, send people to a waitlist or TestFlight page, and only to places that take one. - Ask for feedback and testers, not only installs. ### Launching a mobile app - Record a short screen video on a real phone; it says more than any description. - Name the platform in your title ("for iPhone", "Android beta"), so the wrong readers skip it. - Keep one web page for the app with what it does and the store links; it is what these places link to. - Reply to every review and comment in the first days; early ratings stay on your store page. ## The list "Online" means the site answered when we checked but we could not confirm a date on its listings. "Active" means we confirmed a dated listing, shown with its date. "Not known" means we could not confirm it. Price is what getting listed costs; Link is what we read on real listings. ### Recommended: online, with checked facts (4) | # | Place | What it is | Kind | Status | Price | Link | Checked | |---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---| | 1 | [Product Hunt](https://getlaunchlist.com/directories/launch-boards/producthunt) | Product Hunt is a community launch platform for new tech products. On launch boards that take apps of every kind, such as Product Hunt and Uneed, and in communities that test apps, such as r/alphaandbetausers. Once the app is out, list it on AlternativeTo and the App stores that fit. ### Do app launch boards help App Store ranking? Not directly. The App Store and Google Play rank apps on their own signals, such as installs, ratings and the words in your listing. A launch board can send a burst of installs and early reviews, which helps those signals for a while, and nothing more. ### Can I launch before the app is in the App Store? Yes, on BetaList and r/alphaandbetausers, which take an app before release: a waitlist page for BetaList, a beta or TestFlight link for testers on Reddit. Most launch boards want a store link people can open today, so keep them for release day. ### How do I find beta testers for my app? Post in r/alphaandbetausers with your platform and what you want tested, and put a waitlist on Before you launch places. Ask testers one clear question, not "any feedback?". ### Is Product Hunt good for consumer apps? Yes, if you launch when the app is in the stores. Its own description says it lists mobile apps as well as websites and tech products, and it is among the 10,000 most visited sites. The listings we opened were nofollow, so launch there for visitors, not for search. ### Should I list my app on AlternativeTo? Yes, once it is out. People search AlternativeTo by the app they already use, so listing yours as an alternative to a well-known one puts it in front of people already looking to switch. ### Are these places free? 2 of the 8 that were online state a free way to submit; the rest do not say on their pages. Each record shows the price copied from the place's own submit page. ### Do these places give a dofollow link? Few do. We opened real listings on 4 of them: 1 gave a dofollow link and 2 gave a nofollow or redirected one. For a consumer app, the visitors and testers matter more than the link. ### Do I need a website for my app? A simple page is enough: what the app does, a screenshot or two, and a store or signup link. It is what these places link to, and it keeps working when you change stores or prices. ### When should I launch a consumer app? Twice: a beta launch to find testers, then a public launch once it is in the stores and the first bugs are fixed. Space them a few weeks apart so the second one has something new to show. ## How we checked How we checked: from Oct 14 to 30, 2026 our checker opened each place's home page, its submit page and up to six real listings, without AI. A price, a review time or a badge rule counts only when the place's own page states it, and a link counts only when we read it on real listings. "Not known" means we could not confirm it, not that it is missing.
